In 2011, Doctor McCay Vernon suggested a book idea to author Joanne Greenberg. The idea was to raise awareness of the difficulties and struggles faced by Deaf inmates in America’s penal system and the biases and inequities they are confronted with during arrest and trial. Ms. Greenberg thought the Internet would be a better venue for these issues than a traditional book.

BitcoDavid brought the idea to fruition, and in March 2012, DeafInPrison.com was born. We enjoyed hosting services provided by WordPress.com for twelve years, and ImageWorks LLC handled our domain. GoDaddy is now handling both jobs, and the new DeafInPrison.org is part of the Bitcodavid.net family of Websites.

As much content as possible—articles, videos, and artwork—has been archived and is available here. Several of our original authors have renewed their commitments to the site, and we look forward to picking up the mantle in 2024 and beyond.

Thank you for your years of loyal following, and welcome to the new DeafinPrison.org.
