Merry Christmas From Felix Garcia

Felix has had a good year attending classes, working, and staying healthy. His effective parole interview will be in May via video phone, and I will be talking with the parole commission on Felix’s behalf the following month for his last parole hearing. Barring unforeseen problems, Felix will finally get out of prison. After forty-two years, this innocent Deaf man will be free. For his part, Felix, always the model prisoner, has been taking the required exit classes.

I will be there with HEARD when Felix is released. We plan for him to live and work among the Deaf community in DC. We are working on those logistics now.

Felix looked happy and healthy when I saw him in November. We burned through a memo pad, writing back and forth to each other over our two-hour visit. His current Virginia location is clean and relatively friendly for a penal facility. I am grateful for that. In October, just before our visit, Felix turned sixty-two years old. He is excited about his future and in a good place, emotionally.

Felix sends his best wishes to all his supporters, and I wish you a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year.
